Hanover Boys Ready To Start The Season

The Hanover High boys soccer program is poised to start preseason practices, with over 90 student-athletes eager to start training for the season ahead.  Preseason will begin with registration and fitness testing on Sunday, August 17 at 6:00 p.m. at the HHS turf field.  On Monday, all candidates are invited to double sessions at the  Dresden Rt. 5 fields in Norwich, from 10:00 - 12:00 Noon and from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m.  The tryout and training schedule will be the same on Tuesday, August 19, followed by the Alumni game at 7:00 p.m. at Merriman-Branch Field at HHS.

The Varsity team will be named on Tuesday, and will spend the next two days at the Windridge Tennis and Sports Camp in Roxbury, VT, scrimmaging with some of the top high school teams in Vermont.  All non-varsity players will continue with daily sessions on Wednesday through Friday, with upperclassmen training from 10:00 - 11:30, and freshmen from 3:30 - 5:00.  All of the sessions will be at the Dresden fields in Norwich.

Varsity and JV squads will participate in the Keene Jamboree on Saturday, August 22, departing from HHS at 6:00 a.m.  and returning at 1:00 p.m.  All players will have the day off.

Highlights of the second week of preseason include a number of scrimmages, and an important meeting for all players and parents on Tuesday, August 26 at 7:30 p.m. in the HHS gym.  The Varsity and JV teams will open the regular season on Friday, August 29 at 4:00 p.m.
