Hanover JVs Lose To Lebanon on Last- MInute Goal

On a hot afternoon on the home turf, a tight contest ended with a minute to play, as the visitors found an opening and launched a goal, and the 1 -1 tie was over, as was the game.

The first 25 minutes went scoreless, although Lebanon sent a number of shots to the net.  One finally found the mark when the boys up the road sent 3 players on a run against 2 defenders, and a hard shot from the left side gave them a lead that held up well into the second half.

Robbie Murdza tied the game when the keeper came out too far, leaving Murdza with an open shot that he put on the mark.

That’s where it stayed until the last minute of the game, when the Lebanon striker slotted the game winner.  2 -1 Lebanon.

Yedne Atkins and Robbie Murdza made some good shots that just missed, and the junior midfielder line of Casey Starr and Peter Huizenga on the wings, along with George Geraghty at center mid, all were strong, defending, passing, and advancing with skill and determination.  Jack Hazard was flying all over the field and playing great defense, and Lucas Blackmore and Roger Danilek kept things close by closing down multiple Lebanon runs.

The first regular season game is Friday at home against Bishop Guertin.  Be there on the home grass at 4:00.
